March 2016 in Review

March 2016

It’s already April, so let’s see what’s been going on around here over the past month.

I have published two tutorials in March – here is a bird’s eye view for each of them:

1. Extensions vs Operator overloading – a Beginner’s approach

What does it teach you: How to add a certain amount of time to a given date.
How does it teach you: By comparing the extensions and operator overloading implementation.
Concepts you will learn along the way: operator overloading, extensions, protocols.

2. Operator overloading – a Beginner’s approach

What does it teach you: How to extend the multiplication operator’s standard functionality for numbers so that it works for strings as well.
How does it teach you: By comparing different operator overloading techniques.
Concepts you will learn along the way: generic operators, custom operators, compound operators, extensions, protocols, loops, ranges, pattern matching.

This is my first tutorial published at AppCoda – a big thank you to Simon Ng for making it possible.

Thank you for reading my blog – and stay tuned for even more tutorials and surprises this month! 🙂
